This is an excellent first-whittling knife. It’s nice and sharp, has a blunt tip, finger guard, short blade, and sheath. It’s a great size for a child learning whittling skills with supervision. This is the knife my 6-yo is starting to work with, and my top recommendation for my forest school students, all the way up to age 12. Even teenagers would find this a fine blade to work with. We have not cut any fingers with them yet. The only complaint I have is that it’s hard for kids to tie the sheath on securely.

Nephew loves it, comes sharp, the safety handle is a nice touch, makes carving easier than a traditional pocket knife.. Good “My first knife” for your youngin.

Easy to use, comfortable grip for smaller hands, perfect for young scouts getting into whittling. Loved that they included a couple bandaids (ha!) and safety information.

A good knife for children. Offers a smaller handle comfortable to hold. The blade and handle is smaller allowing better control for kids. The guard is a nice addition for safety. I did notice the knife wasn't as sharp as my other beavercraft knifes but gets the job done especially with some stopping. Seeing as it is a knife for kids I would prefer a set of cut resistant gloves as extra safety measure. Fortunately I do have some. That being said the knife seems pretty nice for a kids first carving knife. And would make a good Christmas gift.

Happy with the overall purchase. Set comes with everything needed to start but not the best quality. Knives were not sharp enough straight out of packaging. Some of the wood supplied had grain running in multiple directions making carving difficult. Would be a great set if you can sharpen the knives and had access to some better basswood blanks.

Das Messer ist sehr gut verarbeitet und kam richtig scharf an. Es liegt super in der Hand und lässt sich präzise führen. Ich habe schon einige Holzarbeiten damit gemacht und die Ergebnisse waren sauber und genau, ideal für feine Schnitzereien. Ein kleiner Minuspunkt ist die Messerscheide, die nicht besonders praktisch ist, da man sie jedes Mal mit einem Knoten verschließen muss. Trotzdem bin ich insgesamt sehr zufrieden und vergebe aufgerundete 5 Sterne.

Kids love them. The blade is sharp enough but has the protective guard to prevent injuries. Comes with a leather case to cover the blade.

Bought this for my kids as they needs something a little safer to learn how to carve wood, it provides good protection as your hand doesn’t risk slipping onto the blade and doesn’t have a sharp point so they can’t prick themselves by mistake. It has a little leather sheath as well. Happy with the purchase, simple carving knife that does the job
