The hat arrived on time, and on unpacking is well made, with sturdy fastenings. I was concerned about the "one size fits all" nature of the hat, but in my case, despite being small in stature, it fitted well with only minor adjustment. The chin cord is of a leather material, and is permanently fixed, as stated in the product description. Personally I would rather this was removable, but as this is clear from the Amazon page, I will not mark it down. With the brim down, it provides good protection from the sun, and with the brim clipped up, the eyes and neck still are shaded, while retaining a stylish modern look. The mesh ventilation seems to work well, a well thought out solution to a perennial problem. I would recommend this hat as an effective solution to the problem of providing shade to the head and neck. From the way it is put together, I think it will stand the test of time, certainly for the low cost, it seems to be a very good product, and represents excellent value for money. As there is a wide choice of colours available, I am tempted to purchase another couple of hats so I can vary the look and have one set aside for working outside on those messy jobs on the car!

Size 60 not 61 as advertised for large. I am a 60 and it just fits. Brim slopes down not out. A bit like a bucket style had. Feels good and comfy. Very well made. I am Happy with it.

I’ve only worn it once, and already this is my favourite hat. I spend a lot of time walking, and I wanted a hat that would keep the sun at bay (when it dares to show its face), yet not cause me to overheat. It has just the right amount of shade cover. The ventilation works well, and I’ve adjusted the band so that it fits perfectly – not too tight, just enough that it can resist the mischief of the occasional gust of wind (I’m at an age where running after a hat in the wind is amusing only for those watching and laughing), and in any case it has a neat and adjustable cord to retain it, and let me throw the hat jauntily onto my back like I was a cowboy in the old films. I think Amazon has rules about not having identifiable people in product pictures, so the pic attached is just the hat minus me, on a bench at the end of a long walk, and not the very fetching selfie of me on the road with the hat perched jauntily on my head, shielding my Sean Connery-like features from the mid-day sun. Ladies, you don’t know what you’ve missed, write to Amazon and complain. Incidentally, the bag beside the hat on the bench is the AmazonBasics ultralight outdoor backpack. A great companion to the hat on a day out. Not tried the hat in the rain yet, as there’s been precious little of that, but if perchance a gust of wind was successful in dislodging it from my cranium too fast for me to run after it with dignity, I’d definitely buy another. Go for it.

The hat is great, I like it and will wear it on my next trip to a very sunny country. I love all the options to wear it with the brim up or down and the pressure pads on the sides. In good condition it would be a 5 star product. Unfortunately it was packed completely flat creating but creases in the brim and crushing the top. At this point I am unsure whether it will recover its shape. It stil works as a hat and I am not planning to return it but I regret this lack of care in packaging so if you order it you take your chances regarding its condition. Another problem is sizing as the product details text says "2 size to choose: medium suit for 55-58cm, large suit for 58-61cm.", while the drop down menu proposes three sizes called 6 3/4 - 7 1/8, 6 7/8 - 7 1/4, and 7 1/4 - 7 5/8. So that's a big contradiction. I would like to help but my order does not mention which size I chose and I have forgotten which size I picked. What I can say is my head circumference is 23 inches, the hat has a label that says 60 and the fit is great for my head.

For the money, this is a great sun-hat, with a nice wide brim to shade your eyes, prevent most of your face burning, and some mesh to aid with cooling. Cotton feels nice, and will probably soften up with use too. I don't hate the look of it either, which is something I can't say about a lot of sun-hats With regard to sizing, my brain-case is on the large size, 61 cm, and this hat only *just* fits comfortably: Anyone up to 60cm will be fine, but I would have liked a *little* more room in it. As long as I don't pull it down too far, it is fine; not quite perched on top of my head, but not rammed over my ears either. And if you happen to pop up the sides, that will also make it a slightly tighter fit. Again, it fits like this, just: The last thing you want is a hat that's slightly too tight, or you will end up with a headache after some time, which I'm guessing is what you want to avoid by buying this! I'll keep it, worn it out today in 27°C and was very glad of it on the open moorland nearby. It will probably go with me on a trip to the mountains next week as well. Hoping it will stretch a little, but it will be ok regardless, with a little care.

Great hat for the money. Very cool to wear due to the mesh upper section. Just returned from a holiday in Tenerife and this proved valuable protection from the fierce sun and at no time did I have to remove it to cool my head. No problem with sun burning my head through the mesh and my head is shaved clean every two days. I removed the small belt which is used for sizing as Im at the largest it would go (58/59 in Motorcycle helmet size if that helps anyone). Nice snug fit no problems with it falling off with wind or movement. Rolls up to fit into bags very easily and I assume it would also wash well if needed.

I’m female with a big head! Women’s hats are usually too small and men’s hats are often not appealing to me! I would say this is on the smaller size of men’s hats as it only just fits me. It can be made smaller but not bigger. I bought the grey colour and it’s lovely. The brim is generous but not so that you have to tilt your head all of the time to look at things. It’s lightweight and foldable. It will crease but quickly remains its shape. I’ve been wearing it for the last half hour in the sunshine on a very hot day and because of the mesh insert I haven’t felt my head get hot at all. The adjustable strap means you can tuck it inside the hat or secure it under your chin. It doesn’t rub and stops the hat fe blowing away should there be a gust of wind! I’m very pleased with my purchase.

I really like this hat. It is light, it fits and it looks good. I bought mine in sage green, which I really like. It has a chin strap, which is fairly basic, but nevertheless it is functional and would keep the hat on in windy conditions. There have been times when walking when a baseball cap gets whipped off, which isn't so great if you are high on a hill, mountain or cliff edge. Also a baseball cap doesn't protect the tops of the ears or the back of the neck from sun exposure, whereas this hat does. I like the lightness of the material and for me the mesh part is ok - I appreciate that bald people don't like this feature, but if you have a good head of hair, it's not a problem and it keeps the head a little cooler. The adjustment band is basic, but functional. My head size is 23" (59cm) but I find the hat fits without being too tight - it is a snug fit and there is still some adjustment left on the head band. I don't know whether the hat would be suitable for a small head size - the band could be tightened, but this might result in folds in the material, which might not look so good. I really like the ability to clip one side, the other side, or both sides up (as shown in the product page picture). If it's a full sun day and I'm hiking and couldn't care less about appearances, then I would leave the hat "floppy" to keep the sun off my ears, neck and side of face. Otherwise I would wear it with one or both sides clipped up. This is great for summer wear, but it is not waterproof or insulating. If you need something warmer and waterproof then you need a goretex or leather type, which would be much more expensive. This definitely will be used on many occasions probably mostly when hiking over 3 seasons.
