Cardinal Brand Atlas, dry matte look winner!
Review from my husband Julien: “The Cardinal Brand’s Atlas is fabulous. I decided to put it up against Bumble and Bumble’s Sumoclay, basically a BMW vs Mercedes type matchup. Long story coming up, but the Cardinal turned out to be a Porsche Turbo... I bought both brands on Amazon and as usual, got great service and received both items promptly. I decided to start an alternating-day trial with both brands. For the record. I don’t have a suit-and-tie job so I don’t need to have my hair looking super tight every day. However, in general, I like my hair looking messy and dry... First day of trial was Atlas. Second day of trial was Sumoclay.... I put the Atlas on around 10AM after showering and washing my hair. My first thought was I loved the smell, manly. Mallory (my wife) loves it too, which is a bonus (wink)... I realized early that Atlas is very easy to apply, even with wet hair. It feels like chocolate mousse in your fingers, and doesn’t stick to strands of hair. I was very surprised how well it spread. This is nothing like pomade, where it sticks to fingers, or grabs onto the first strand of hair when you apply. This is butter, folks. Now, like anyone reading this, I’m thinking about what my hair will look like in 1 to 2 to 3 hours. Will I look like straight Gino, or will I look like Harvey Specter (from TV show Suits, you’re welcome, if you haven’t seen it)? Atlas gets the job done by drying up and holding on like Mariano Rivera in the 9th. The hold was incredible throughout the day, so impressed. Now I wake up for day 2, brush my teeth, look in mirror, my hair is tight. I mean, tight. My day 2 Cardinal Brand Atlas is basically ready for me to go to Wall Street without washing my hair. But I spent $30 on the Sumoclay, so I have to give it a fair shot, right? So I wash my hair and get ready to put the Sumo in, and there it is. I get it in my fingers and everything’s fine, not the chocolate mousse I was hoping for, but fine. Then, I go to put it in my hair, NOPE. It gets stuck in my bangs, right up front. Now I’m battling to get this stuff all the way to the back of my dome. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Now, Sumoclay held up nice, there’s no denying that, but from an application standpoint, Atlas wins. I also give Atlas both the smell notch and the next morning notch, which are both approved by my wife. Cardinal Atlas if you want that dry matte look, folks. It’s a lock.

Magic Whipped Cream that creates a TON of texture and hold
I actually work in the hair industry and as a result get to try all sorts of products. As a result, I have two bathroom drawers full of hair products that I have purchased yet don't really love. Cardinal is the only thing I've used in my hair for the past couple months because it is so different. I have medium hair that is dense and has wave and like to wear my hair longer (making it heavy) than most men do, because of this I have the hardest time finding something that is strong enough to hold my long/heavy hair on top to keep it from falling down without making it look and feel like it's hard, wet, or glued to my head. The only thing that worked before this was a product called Alterna Caviar that has since been discontinued. Luckily, the creators at Cardinal Brand figured out how to create a... I don't know exactly what to call it... kind of a whipped light cream stuff. It smells amazing - masculine in a high-end familiar but not easily recognizable scent - and the craziest thing which I love (because let's face it, it's not super cheap) is how little is actually needed to do my hair. Even though it feels light and whipped, I only need around the amount of a two dimes stacked on top of one another (a bizarrely small amount) to make my hair hold all day, while giving it a ton of texture that you can only normally get from a salt sea spray. It creates a very natural product-free looking hold with an awesome amount of texture. I also appreciate that because it's so effective in small amounts, I have been able bring this round tin in my carry on bags all over the world with no problems from TSA. Again, not sure what is in this stuff, but whatever it is it works and works wonders. To re-style my hair the following day I just wet hands and re-shape.

If Cardinal Atlas is for me then it’s for you!!
Over my more than 30 years of existence I have gone through a plethora of hair products and none of them have fit me quite right. I have a full head of fine, thick hair and finding the perfect product has been rather difficult. Either the product is too heavy and kills all the volume with a flat greasy mess look or allows volume and flexibility but falls apart with the first breeze of the day. I’ve been using Cardinal Atlas for a little under a year now and it has solved all those issues! It’s lite enough to allow the flexibility I need to sculpt my preferred hair style but strong enough to keep it in place and looking good no matter what the day brings. It’s easy as applying a dime size worth of Atlas after a shower and blow dry. But just when you think the best part of Atlas is how it’ll make you look BOOM! It smells even better! It is by far the best smelling hair product I have ever come across. It’s like walking around with your favorite candle burning safely on top of your head. I promise you will occasionally get whiffs of it throughout the day and you’ll wonder where that sweet smell is coming from but then you realize oh it’s you. As I highlighted at the beginning of this review I have had a really hard time finding a product that works for me and that’s why I’m more than happy to give Cardinal Atlas all the praise it deserves. You’ll look good! You’ll smell good!! So trust me when I say if Atlas is for me then Atlas Is for you!!

Best Hair Clay I’ve used! (But expensive)
This stuff is great and I recommend it! PRICE: I scoffed at the price at first, but I was pleasantly surprised to see you got a lot of the product. I could see it lasting me 6 months. Edit: price when I wrote this was $27. Was just about to order another can when I saw they raised the price to $40! Such a big hike and taking a star off because of it. SMELL/TEXTURE: This one is obviously subjective but I personally like the smell of it. It’s hard to describe but I can’t envision anyone thinking it’s bad. This stuff feels like no other hair clay I’ve tried. It’s very ‘fluffy’ and airy. It feels like chocolate mousse. FUNCTION: Really happy here. I style my hair up and slightly to the left in the front and this stuff holds it perfectly. I even survived a very windy day when I was out sight seeing. Hold was no problem. When I wake up in the morning my hair still has that ‘naturally shaped’ look even though I was tossing and turning all night. It also doesn’t look like you have much product in your hair and doesn’t make your hair hard and crunchy. I towel dry but I like to keep my hair a little damp. Then apply a small amount and mold it into shape in about 15 seconds, then I blow dry for another 15 seconds. You probably don’t need to blow dry, I just like it as a means of setting it. Overall, this stuff is great and I will be purchasing again!

The answer to any bad reviews
The stuff is great. Actually, it's the best. For the very few 1 and 2 star reviews, you need to add a little water because your product is drying out. If the product dries so quickly on your hands that it won't spread easily on your hair, here are two ways to do this: If its on your hands already, put a small amount of water on your hands with it, and rub your hands together to rehydrate the product. It might take a little practice to get it right, but after that, no problems. If it is too dry right out of the can, add a dozen drops of water into the can lid and place it on the table (upside down obviously so it is still holding the water). Then place the product tin on top of it and close it. Leave it upside down overnight. The product will rehydrate. You can do this to your liking. Also, your hair should be toweled off, but not dry. It should be evenly damp. So if you rated this 1 or 2 stars, start using your critical thinking and solve the issue. Its not the product. Next week, I'll show you how to change a tire. Your girlfriend will be impressed.

Best hair product I've used!
I have thinning hair, and I have a hard time finding products that give me the look and the volume that I want. I've tried different shampoos, and all sorts of different pastes, pomades, clays, etc. The Atlas Matte Texture Clay has been my favorite by far! Some products have given me "good days" and "bad days" ... but every day with this one was a good one! It does not leave my hair clumpy, not shiny, it doesn't make my hair fall flat (a common problem) or look greasy. It thickens the hair, and gives it a nice style. I have short hair, and I prefer a messy look, that's partly groomed, but with my fingers, not a comb. It works well from the first day of a new cut, to sometimes even 5 or 6 weeks later, if I haven't been able to get back to the barber. I'm trying to cover everything, because I'm simply that impressed with the product. I was concerned when it was on back order, and then not showing an estimated date of availability. I reached out to the company direct, and Steven responded quickly. He answered my questions and was even a little funny and snarky. Great experience with the product and great experience with the company. 5 stars from top to bottom.

Probably worst hair product I have ever tried
Not sure what’s up with these reviews, but I believed them and shelled out the $32 for this and boy was I disappointed. It’s very sticky and difficult to apply to your hair. Then it makes you hair a sticky ball of mess that is basically impossible to style. Be prepared to be pulling out strands of hair while you style your hair since it’s all stuck together!

At Las.... my love had come along..
You couldn’t spend your money any better when you’re searching for a good hair product you can rely on. My first time using Cardinal I spent some time playing with how my hair would lay, as will you, and I was quite pleased. I found that a small dollop around the size of a Mento provided the perfect amount of hold for short to almost-shaggy hair like mine, and it allows for a lot of room to play with different day-to-day hairstyles. I would also recommend blow drying your hair after applying; this creates an almost perfectly natural texture and look (be warned, it does lose some hold after blow-drying, however, the effects are well worth it IMO). Throughout the day, I did find myself playing with my hair a bit more to keep it up, but in doing so I learned that cardinal only gets better as the day goes on. As you run your fingers through your hair, Cardinal runs deeper into your roots and follicles, providing a better hold at the end of the day rather than in front of the mirror. Overall, I can see that the Cardinal founders truly cared about, and put time into, the product they perfected. ....so why are you still reading reviews?
