Learn Nahuatl: Language of the Aztecs and Modern Nahuas [Garcia, Yan] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Learn Nahuatl: Language of the Aztecs and Modern Nahuas Review: this book is a really good introduction to Nahuatl as it is spoken in Huasteca - This book is really well done. There are a lot of self-published language learning materials out there, and and they can be rather hit and miss, this book is a really good introduction to Nahuatl as it is spoken in Huasteca. In certain vocabulary lists, the author also gives versions and other dialects such as Central and in Classical Nahuatl. The author gives straightforward explanations of grammar items, also sneaking in a few somewhat more technical items, but never in a way that is off-putting or solely for an expert linguist. The section on pronunciation as well done, and the explanations of present, past, and future tenses are simply put an easy to understand. There are ample example sentences as well as exercises answer keys. The author also includes some online references in the back of the book so that readers can access audio examples, although they are independent sites and not connected to the book. It’s great to find an accessible, affordable on Nahuatl for one of the modern spoken dialects. Review: Great material for getting started - I must admit, I still have much to cover from the book, but I am very happy with my purchase. The explanations are kept simple (in a few cases too much), and the the point with examples and practices all over the material. What I particularly like is that beside the Huasteca the author often provides examples from the classical Nahuatl. A definate MUST if you want to start getting familiar with the language.

Modern Nahuatl Made Easy
Easily instructs Modern Nahuatl, mostly in Huastecan, but also in Central. Plenty of examples and test-yourself quizzes, with answers at the back of the book. Written with the input and advice of the Professors and native speakers at the University of Zacatecas and in the Huasteca itself. A good introduction for anyone considering a formal modern Nahuatl class at Yale or IDIEZ (University of Zacatecas). The dictionary could be better: otherwise; this book is great.
