How long did the initial assembly take (and how good were the instructions?)

Instructions consist mostly of the step by step diagram, which is decent. And the hardware is all neatly packaged. It took me an hour and a half, but the first half hour was mostly just gathering all the right tools, etc. I used a 1/2 inch socket (13mm would have worked also) and a 17mm, socket wrench, extension, screwdrivers, needle nose pliers... Once you have the right tools, it's pretty easy.

Is the 36" x 20" dimension the actual bed or the measurement at the top of the tapered sides?

36 x 20 is at the top. Bed is 26.5 x 17. For what it's worth, this is a great cart. Dumps cleanly and easily.

Hello, will this cart work well on beach soft sand? Planning to use it for carrying my scuba dive gear, about 140 pounds. Thanks.

I have had mine for several years, I use it in the yard and garden(very soft sandy loam soil when tilled) I pull it by hand, I also pull it behind my riding lawnmower to haul stuff and also put spot sprayers in. I have never had any problem with it doing what I asked of it to do. the sand will make it a little harder to pull than on hard surface but it will be much better than making lots of trips with out it. I would certainly make sure to wash it really good after you leave the beach and lube the wheels with some good spray lube...not wd40. I also haul groceries in the house with mine. I am disabled and don't get around very good so I can load everything up in 1 trip, up my handicapped ramp and in the house very easily.
