This desk quality matches or surpasses the cost. Like others have mentioned, it won't last forever. However, it is built to withstand reasonable usage. Another reviewer said scooting it broke a leg, but I scooted ours newly built on low carpet without a glitch or hitch. It definitely takes time to assemble, but the instructions are very clear (other than one typo) and can be followed without an engineering degree. Many have said 3-4 hours for assembly, but my husband assembled it solo in under 2. The "cherry" color is misleading as it isn't nearly as red as most cherry or faux cherry wood furniture. It's really quite attractive and certainly looks like a more expensive desk. At least 1 other reviewer mentioned the pieces being dusty, but the one we received was not. I was pleased with the quality of the drawer slides; they were not cheap and flimsy. The drawers roll smoothly - like what you would expect from a much more expensive piece of furniture. One other thing that was impressive was the packaging! 1. Sections were in separate boxes with the desktop protected with plastic corner guards and carefully packed in Styrofoam. 2.When this very heavy box was left on my mom's front porch, one edge got wet. However, the moisture never got to the contents due to the excellent packaging.

I'm 76 & easily assembled this myself with tools and parts provided. The assembly are directions are clear and easy to follow. Loved the cams and bolts! Just don't put too much pressure on the cams. My husband loves this desk for his small home office and it holds a lot!! Great design, wonderful to have the USB port plus a hole for cords and cables to thread through. Another useful feature is the file drawer so all your files are close at hand and convenient. There is nothing we don't like about this desk. Highly recommend. Great value for the price.

Being honest, "put it together" furniture can be a crap-shoot. Sometimes you get a good piece, sometimes you pay for a good piece and get a bad apple, and sometimes it's just plain junk. This is a really really nice desk, all the hardware is there, the predrilled holes line up nicely, the fitment especially at this price point is quite nice. For a causal/light-duty home desk this is a great buy. My wife loves it and is cautious not to overload the drawers but just keep necessities in them. If you work from home and need a "workhorse" of a desk this might not last too long. Our son and I put this together for my wife a few days before Christmas and she was delighted! I reckon this was a two beer job, maybe three, but we were taking our time and enjoying the process. I'd guess if you were alone and in a hurry it would still be a three beer job with some colorful language along the way - if you have someone that can help assemble this with you definitely have them help out - it will make the job easier and in my opinion you'll have a better finished product. I do recommend this product with the comment that it's a great casual/light-desk but in my opinion will not stand up to the rigors of 8+ hrs/day if you work from home AND need to store heavy files etc. in the drawers - this is a light-duty desk.

This is well-made for a cheap desk. All the parts fit well, nothing missing, and if you pay attention closely to the directions and which part is which, the average person should have no problem assembling it in a few hours. My daughter wanted a left-hand desk, so some time spent with the parts and instructions, and then some work with lay-out lines and a drill-press with the appropriate forstner bit to drill the needed holes to build it the "other way" - a left-handed desk was the result! A few extra left-over un-used holes were easily covered with stickers provided, and you would be hard pressed to know it wasn't designed that way. Only attempt this if you have a drill press and can closely measure drilling depth so as to not drill too deep. Also note that the two lower drawer fronts are NOT symmetrical, and have to be drilled to switch the offset to the right - I missed that initially. Total time to re-engineer, re-drill, and assemble about 6 hours. I also modified the mount for the outlet/USB box. As designed, it sticks out the back of the desk about 1" and prevented the desk from sitting flush against the wall. I spaced the box 1" to the inside with two bits of 1" wood, and it's now flush to the back of the desk, and still well hidden within the upper unit. All in all, this is a well-built and very serviceable student desk! The re-engineering project was relatively easy and straightforward - just measure twice, and drill once...
